Meet Your Ministerial Team
|

Senior Minister Rev. Jim Lee |

Rev. Jim Lee was born in St. Louis,
Missouri, however he has spent most of his life in Washington, DC
(25 years). After completing four years in the US Air Force, he
attended college at the University of Maryland and received a degree
in Business Management.
Prior to entering the ministry, Jim
was a successful Corporate Marketing Instructor and National
Marketing Representative with IBM Corporation. During this time, he
was very involved in community programs, particularly, those
relating to youth empowerment. He was the Executive Director of
Youth At Risk, a community based program, which focused on
transforming the lives of inner city youth.
He attended Unity School for
Religious Studies, where he completed the Ministerial Education
Program in 1994. and became the Senior Minister of Unity East Church
Center in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn, New York. There
he led a 400+ church membership that served a multi-ethnic
community.
Jim has
formerly served as Senior Minister and Pastor at Christ Unity Church
in Sacramento, California and the Chaplain of Unity School for Religious Studies in Lee’s
Summit, Missouri. Rev. Lee is also a member of the Board of
Directors of the Association of Unity Churches International.

Ric's ministerial duties
include leading the
Small Group ministry – RU Connected, coordinating Wednesday
Praise & Worship Service & Tuesday evening’s Meditation Service and pastoral
care. In addition, he is the Ministerial liaison for our Rainbow Unity group and
the gay/lesbian/transgender community.
For three years, Ric
served as Renaissance Unity’s Youth & Family Minister. He had previously been a
member of the Renaissance Unity Executive Team. During the transitional year
from management to Minister, Ric served Unity Church of Clare as their Minister.
Rev. Beattie has an
extensive background in lay ministry including 25+ years of experience directing
weekend retreats, conducting workshops, leading worship and facilitating small
groups of various kinds.
He describes himself as
minister for hugs and technology and has a passion for creating and maintaining

Rev. Karen Boland |

Karen Boland became an ordained Unity Minister in
1986. She has served the ministries of Atlanta, Georgia and Seattle,
Washington, and has been a guest speaker and seminar presenter in 50
churches nationwide. Having participated in the church since its
inception, (as Church of Today), she has served as a Minister at Renaissance
Unity since 1998. Her ministerial duties are varied including creating
and running a Divorce Recovery support group.
Prior to entering Unity School of Religious Studies, she was a high school
English/speech teacher, followed by a career in corporate personnel.
She has one daughter and two grandchildren residing in Charlotte, North
Carolina.

Rev. Dr. Rose Cooper |
|

Reverend
Dr. Rose Cooper is an ordained Unity minister and has been active in Unity
over twenty-five years. Prior to
joining Renaissance Unity's ministerial team in 2001, Dr. Cooper served as
Assistant to the Minister at Detroit Unity Temple and as part of the
ministerial cadres at Unity of Warsaw, MO and Unity of London, Ontario,
Canada.
In addition to her work in the
ministry, Dr. Cooper teaches communication at a local university, focusing
on interpersonal interaction, group dynamics and service learning. She
has also worked on the production team for a television talk show, winning
the prestigious Award for Cable Excellence (ACE).

Rev. Sandy Hess |
|

Sandy Hess has been a member of Renaissance Unity for twenty-one years and a
minister here for the past ten years. Sandy's area of ministry
focuses on the Pastoral Care Program, Prayer Partners and Telephone
Prayer partners. She is also a bereavement counselor and has
facilitated Renaissance Unity's Grief and Loss support group for the past
nineteen years.
Before entering the ministry, Rev. Hess worked in the
field of elementary special education and child care.
